Acceptance

By accessing or using Billhawk.ai (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service, our Privacy Policy, and our Disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

What Billhawk is

Billhawk.ai is an AI-powered document review tool that helps consumers understand U.S. medical bills, identify questions worth asking, and draft inquiry or appeal templates.

What Billhawk is not

Billhawk is not, and does not act as:

  • A law firm or attorney
  • A healthcare provider
  • An insurance company or broker
  • A medical billing service
  • A financial advisor
  • Your claims representative, billing advocate, agent, or fiduciary

Billhawk does not provide legal, medical, insurance, or financial advice. All outputs are informational only and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

Eligibility

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old and U.S. residents. You may only upload documents that relate to you or that you are otherwise authorized to share.

Acceptable use

  • Personal, non-commercial review of your own medical bills.
  • You will not upload documents you are not authorized to share.
  • You will not attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, attack, or abuse the Service.
  • You will not use the Service to harm, harass, or defame any provider, insurer, or individual.

User responsibility

You remain responsible for:

  • Reviewing all reports and outputs produced by Billhawk
  • Independently verifying any information before relying on it
  • Deciding whether and how to pay any medical bill
  • Deciding whether to submit any inquiry, dispute, or appeal
  • How you communicate with any provider, insurer, or third party

Free Service

Billhawk is currently provided free to consumers. We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or change features of the Service at any time. If Billhawk introduces paid features in the future, those features will be presented separately and will not apply unless you choose to use them.

AI-generated content and limitations

Reports, findings, recommendations, appeal letters, and inquiry templates are generated by AI-assisted systems. Billhawk may:

  • Miss issues that are present in a bill
  • Identify issues incorrectly
  • Generate inaccurate or incomplete recommendations
  • Misread amounts, codes, or other content in a document

You must independently verify information before relying on it or sending it to a provider, insurer, or other third party.

Generated Reports and Templates

Reports, recommendations, appeal letters, and inquiry templates generated by Billhawk are provided for informational purposes only. Billhawk does not submit appeals, contact providers, contact insurers, negotiate bills, or act on your behalf.

You are responsible for reviewing, editing, verifying, and deciding whether to use any generated report, appeal letter, or inquiry template.

Billhawk does not monitor appeal deadlines, claim deadlines, payment deadlines, collection deadlines, or insurance filing requirements.

No guarantees

Billhawk does not guarantee:

  • Savings or reduced bills
  • Successful inquiries, disputes, or appeals
  • Insurance reimbursement
  • Provider adjustments or write-offs
  • Any specific financial outcome

Any savings figures shown in the Service are estimates only and are not a promise of any outcome.

Billhawk does not guarantee that any issue identified is actually an error, that any provider or insurer will respond, or that any report or template will be accepted by a provider, insurer, collector, or other third party.

No Provider or Insurer Relationship

Billhawk is independent and is not affiliated with your healthcare provider, insurer, employer, collection agency, or any government program. Billhawk does not represent that any provider, insurer, or third party will accept or agree with any report, recommendation, appeal letter, or inquiry template.

Email communications

By submitting your email, you agree that Billhawk may email you (i) your report and any generated letter, (ii) follow-up messages about how your bill resolved, and (iii) operational notices. Marketing or product-update emails require a separate opt-in and may be unsubscribed from at any time.

Document Handling

Uploaded source documents are handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Billhawk currently processes uploaded source documents and deletes them immediately after processing. Billhawk may retain structured, extracted, aggregated, or de-identified information as described in our Privacy Policy.

License to De-Identified Data

You retain ownership of the original documents you upload.

By using Billhawk, you grant Billhawk a royalty-free, worldwide license to use de-identified and aggregated data derived from your uploads for the purposes described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy, including product improvement, analytics, research, benchmarking, quality assurance, and future commercial offerings.

This license does not extend to personally identifying information about you.

Billhawk retains ownership of its analysis, derived insights, aggregated statistics, de-identified datasets, benchmarking data, product improvements, software, systems, and intellectual property.

Service Ownership

Billhawk and its licensors own all rights, title, and interest in the Service, including software, workflows, prompts, designs, analysis methods, reports generated by the platform, aggregated statistics, de-identified datasets, benchmarking data, and related intellectual property, except for your original uploaded documents and personal information.

You may use reports and templates generated for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.

Outcome reporting

You may, but are not required to, report the outcome of a bill. Outcome reporting is voluntary and is used to improve our analysis and inform de-identified benchmarks.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Billhawk disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, accurate, complete, current, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will Billhawk, its officers, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, licensors, or service providers be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, loss of goodwill, medical bills owed, payments made or not made, or amounts paid to providers, insurers, or collectors — arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if Billhawk has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Billhawk's total aggregate liability for any and all claims arising out of or related to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold Billhawk harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (i) your use of the Service, (ii) your violation of these Terms, (iii) your violation of any law or third-party right, or (iv) documents you upload that you are not authorized to share.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. The sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
